More Proof Apple “Gets It”

Disclaimer: this is not a 3G iPhone post. Yes, I love it. Yes, I’m tempted. Yes, it’s a great day, blah, blah, blah…

This is about design, period. More specifically, this is about simplicity being part of good design. Some friends directed me this way this morning. I thought I’d share…

UGLY: Windows startup screen.

Notice anything? Perhaps this will help:

Microsoft listed 3 times, colored in red.

And to show you how to do it properly, I present to you Apple’s Mac OSX startup screen.

PRETTY:

It’s nice to be a fan of a company who understands design, brand recognition, and class.

As soon as my Dell dies, Apple here I come!

    That’s the genius of mac.

    Image.

The Windows screen has ‘insecurity’ written all over. Like they’ve gone into ‘protect’ mode. Its the fight or flight instinct of the computer world. Protect your offspring so maybe, just maybe you’ll have a hope for future generations.

Apple on the other hand seems to be saying, “if you can steal it, go ahead. We’ll just make something better.”

Of course this is coming from a guy who still owns the former, but mainly b/c he’s too cheap to buy a Mac before his PC just dies completely.

That’s okay, TJ. I’m sure the wait for your PC to give up the ghost won’t be long.
