Beginning of Something Good?

According to this article featured on, there might be a sizable chink in the armor of Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Many Iranian youths rallied in streets across the country, shouting “Death to Ahmadinejad,” in celebrations marking the end of the Persian calendar year.

In the western city of Ahvaz, angry mobs declared “Freedom is our legitimate right” while demonstrators in the western city of Sanandaj shouted “Death to (Iranian President Mahmoud) Ahmadinejad,” Ynetnews reported Wednesday.

This is the kind of spark that can one day bring down an oppressive government. Whether or not the fervor of Iran’s youth can spread into the adult population is a matter of speculation. I had previously been under the impression that much of Achmadoozah’s regime was largely supported by the Iranian people. If protests like this keep popping up on a consistent basis, we might be in for a nice surprise.

Or Iran can destabilize to the point that it’s even more dangerous than it already is.

On a related note, thank God for America.

  1. Matthew D. says:

I think the next important question is what, whenever the current regime is undermined, will it be replaced by.

Unfortunately (or is it fortunately?) the notion of self-government is rather foreign in the minds of those brought up under the doctrines of the Islamic faith.
